New Romantic

Milan Menswear for Spring 2012 is underway and the focus seems to sit with the late Great Gianni Versace who popularized a bold and vibrant way of dressing with bold colors and vibrant prints, his aesthetic is rife this week at D&G and Versace with the use of bold and exuberant colors in fabulous prints that exude the 1980's and the whole era of 'New Romantic' dressing made popular by Duran Duran, Adam Ant and Human League.

Graduate Fashion Week

Charlotte Rutherwood - Nottingham Trent
As her collection entered the dim-lit catwalk all eyes were on her as her graduate collection from Nottingham Trent University hit the Catwalk to represent a new level of talent Britain has yet to parade - as the country with the most individual talent around.
Her collection featured a Rustic-ly rich color pallet which made her collection although soft, very prominent for me to remember.
her collection of 6 looks featured everything from a floor length fringe dress made from wool and my favorite look, the last exit on the catwalk - a sheer blouse in a light cream and a pair of trousers which i felt had a huge reference to 'Where The Wild Things Are' but i also felt the collection had a secret economical message regarding polar ice caps which Chanel also made a present trend topic for Winter 2010 which is now an iconic show.
Charlottes collection although subtle with a twist was the one collection that remains one that stuck out the most out of all the outlandish and bold collections other students gave us, that not said all were a fantastic feast for the eyes and the University has shown their students have a unique and talented vision for us all to marvel over.

Book Worm
Fashion Coffee Table Books always take my fancy with their impressive outer packaging and overall general cover designs among many other things has led me to over the years collect some 30 Designer Coffee Table Books, some of my favourites i boast of are Tom Ford : 10 Years, Prada By Prada and Balenciaga Paris, which are a feast for the eyes of the Historic elements of each designer over various periods of time, some contain some of the most iconic years and moments in Fashion to date.
Here are the selection of Various Books i intend to consume over the next few months, although one being about the legendary figure and Film Maker Alfred Hitchcock, the rest are relatively Fashion Based.

A Tragic story of a girls pursuit of Perfection and the constant need to Impress her piers which leads to her having Hallucinations and more seriously a Mental Breakdown with the amount of pressure she was put under by her piers and the pressure she pushed upon herself.
as the film comes to an end she utters the words 'I felt it.... I felt... I was Perfect' as she lay dying after she performed with a rapturous applause from the audience after she 'jumped' from the cliff top in Swan Lake and the film closes with the audience left wondering 'Did she die ? or was it merely another Hallucination ?'.

Ever since i had a wonder around Selfridges in Birmingham yesterday, it was then that i saw in unashamed view the new T by Alexander Wang selection for Men and what a selection it was, featuring everything from lounge wear to grungy jackets finished off with the softest leather i've ever felt.
Previously i had glanced through the rails of T by Alexander Wang and nothing impressed me with most of previous (lackluster) collections with most of it consisting of Sweats and that wasn't at all what i was looking for and not only that they didn't at all feel 'Special'.
Pieces that stood out to me were a Bomber style jacket finished with leather detailing on the pockets and shoulders, Terry toweling Sweat pants with a matching hooded jacket, in Grey and a Jersey Jacket in a silvery tone.
